Good morning. Tom Heath with the Heath Team at Nova Home Loans. Today is December 21st, and this is our weekly installment of Mortgage and Real Estate Related Matters.
This is our last update of 2020 and it happens to fall on the winter solstice, the shortest day of the year with the least amount of sunlight. That means tomorrow we’re going to have a little bit more daylight, the day after that a little bit more and gradually going to get lighter and lighter.
Now I take that as a metaphor, that we are in our darkest hour and we are going to slowly pull out of this. 2021 will be a better year for our community and for our nation and for our world. Now, in the meantime, there is a lot of work to still be done. I look at our local entrepreneurs, our neighbors, who have taken that plunge and opened up a restaurant or retail shop or a gift shop and they need our help.
Business is struggling as you all know and these entrepreneurs don’t have the same safety net of some of the larger corporations. They may even have the resources to go find some of the money that might even be available to them. From day to day, they’re struggling just to keep their doors open and their employees paid.
As we’re thinking about how we’re going to spend our money over the next few weeks, the next few months, please consider these local businesses as a first stop, as a primary stop. See how you can help them. because by keeping them in business, keeping them afloat, we’re a stronger community. We all know that one of the big drivers of home values, of housing prices, is a strong community. This is just one way that we can do that and I hope that you choose to do so.
2020, obviously a very interesting year and I hope 2021 is a lot less exciting, but I do want to thank you for supporting the Heath Team. I want to thank my partners in this, Trevor, Haley, Wendy, Angie and the team at NOVA that is working just unimaginable hours to make things as successful as we can. I’m wishing you a safe and happy holiday.
Happy year-end, and I look forward to working with you and 2021. Thank you.
