- The Dow had 3 triple-digit point moves this week.
Last week was another wild ride in the financial markets. The DJIA lost 500 points overall and dipped below 10,000 for the first time since November. MBS prices benefitted with huge surges on Thursday and Friday. The cause for this shift? Mainly, concerns that certain European countries may not be able to repay their debt and will need support. More on how this effects us in a brief video explanation.
This week, we will be watching the markets for any correction to the late week runs. On Thursday, there will be two key economic reports on retail sales that will give us a glimpse into the American consumer. If we are spending money, expect stocks to benefit at the expense of bonds. As the price of MBS decline, the cost of borrowering increases for the consumer.
