Mortgage Market At a Glance–July 28, 2010
Another mixed day in the markets. Durable goods data was below expectations, putting pressure on stocks. Stocks rallied slightly with good earnings reports from corporations, but have since fallen back. Even with a strong earnings quarter, companies are predicting a lighter third quarter.
A Treasury Auction of short term notes met with decent demand yesterday and another, with 5-year maturities, is scheduled for today. MBS prices are up on the mixed stock news and good demand for yesterdays auction.
We will be watching today’s auction and the market reaction for indications of where mortgage rates are heading.
I hope this has helped your business and provided clarity for your clients.
